One Month Old

It is so hard to believe that Ty is already one month old! Time is flying by! Garrett is still doing great with him and hardly leaves him alone. I think that he is weighing in about 10 pounds now, but we will see for sure at the ped. on Monday. He smiled at both David and I this weekend for the first time and actually somehow managed to roll from his belly to his back (I'm thinking that was complete fluke or is advanced beyond measure).

He still looks like a little Garrett and is really a great baby. He is waking up 2 to 3 times a night and awake for many hours during the day. The bad part about that is that he wants to be held while he is awake. He screams if he is awake in his carseat!

We went to Tennessee last weekend for David to play in the CCHS Alumni Baseball game. So it was Ty's first time out of state. Mom, Dad and Cory came down last week and we went to the North Georgia State Fair (it's about 10 miles from us). Garrett really enjoyed it and got to ride a pony and see a bear show. He was not interested at all in riding any of the rides. It was a pretty good fair for $5.00.

It has finally cooled off here. We went for mid-90's to upper 70's and its wonderful! We are hoping to go to a pumpkin patch this weekend and getting ready for all things Fall. We officially celebrated Garrett's birthday on Tuesday and went to a play based on the book "How I Became a Pirate". Ty was great and went to sleep during it.

That's all our updated for now!

Welcome September!

September has been a busy month so far for us. Garrett will be 3 on the 28th! I know, it is so hard to believe that he has been part of our family for 3 years. He is quite interesting these days and constantly keeps us on our toes. Preschool is going great and loves going. We have officially given up pull-ups. I had been waiting to see if he regressed after Ty was born (I had heard bad stories about potty training after a new baby), but he didn't have any issues. So he has started wearing underwear everywhere and is doing absolutely fantastic with it. I'm sure he was ready to switch long before we did.
We went ahead and had an early birthday party for him because we wanted to have as many family members here as possible, so we had this party on the 11th. He is still big into dinosaurs, so we had a dinosaur birthday party. He got lots of great things and lots of pajamas!

He is doing great with Ty. He just wants to be around him and kiss him. He hasn't acted jealous of him and Ty has adjusted pretty well to Garrett's noise level.

An update on Ty: He is doing great. I can tell he is starting to fill out and sleeps longer at night. Right now he is sleeping 3 to 4 hours in between feedings at night, but he doesn't want to sleep in his bassinett at all. I'm probably starting a bad habit, but I need sleep! He is becoming much more alert and is up for hours at a time now. He is up for about 3 hours and sleeps for about 2. I think he is following in Garrett's footsteps about not wanting to sleep! We don't go back to the ped. for another couple of weeks, so I'm not sure how much he weighs. He still looks so much like Garrett as a baby and is a really good baby. He only cries if he is hungry, wet or sleepy.

David went back to work on Wednesday and we have adjusted well. I took both boys to drop Garrett off at school on Wednesday and we were on time! He carseat is a beast and I probably look rough carrying it, but you forget how heavy they are!

Enjoy the pictures and we will keep you updated!

Introducing Ty William Coffey

Introducing Ty William Coffey: Born August 30th at 6:46 pm, Weighing 6 pounds and 9 ounces and 18 1/4 inches long

I'll give you all the short version of his birth story. On Monday, I went to the doctor and was dilated 2.5 and completely effaced, so my midwife went ahead and stripped my membranes. This was at 10:15. I felt completely fine and picked Garrett up from school and was folding laundry when my water broke at 4:10. I called David and he hurried home (it took him about 40 minutes). By then my contractions were about 5 to 6 minutes apart, so we dropped Garrett off at our friends house and got the hospital about 5:45. By then I was hurting pretty badly and was checked and dilated 5. I got in my labor room about 6:20 and asked for my epidural. When the anesthesiologist came in I already had to push (about 6:35). I did get my epidural, but was already dilated 10. So it didn't do me much good. My midwife came in then and I pushed twice and he was born at 6:46. So I was in labor for 2 hours and 30 minutes total (I didn't have a contraction till my water broke). He was in a big hurry to get here. I'm afraid if we have another baby that it will be born in the car! It was a short, but very painful labor, but he is definitely worth it. He is a little mini Garrett. He looks so much like him when he was a newborn.

We are all doing great and so happy to be at home and getting settled in. Garrett is doing really well with him and actually pays some attention to him. Every time he cries, Garrett asks me "What's wrong with him?". David is off for the next two weeks, so it will be nice to get all settled at home. He is already wanting to be held all the time! So my life should get very interesting :)

Enjoy the pictures, we will keep everyone updated!
