Last week of baseball and school

When Luke was still in the NICU, Garrett had his last week of baseball.  I was able to go to all the game but one.  Garrett ended up having a great year playing.  He has really gotten into the sport.  They had a great team and coach this year.  We all had a great time.  The War Eagles ended up being 4th in their league.

Right after baseball ended, so did school.  These pictures were taken on the boys last day of school.  It's so hard to believe that Garrett will be in the Kindergarten next year :(

They did an end of the year program too.  It was American themed and they all did so good!

Luke Alexander

Luke decided to come a little bit earlier than anticipated.  On May 7th, my water broke about 2:15 am and we decided to hurry to the hospital because my labor with Ty was so fast and I was Group Strep B positive.  We made great time and got the boys ready and was at the hospital by 3 am.  We got checked in and they determined my water had broken and started my iv and antibiotic.

We all just hung out and waited for my labor to pick up.  I expected it to go fast but I guess my body wasn't really ready to have him.  They ended up giving me Pitocin about 8:15 or 8:30 after I decided to get an epidural.  I started pushing about 11:05 and he was born at 11:20 am.  He came out crying, so we thought his lungs were okay, but later found out that they were not.

They decided to take him to the NICU for observation, but it ended up being a lot more than that.  He was diagnosed with Respiratory Distress Syndrome and was on a CPAP machine for 4 days, then was switched to a Nasal Cannula.

Finally free to the CPAP!

His first picture without anything on after the NICU stay!

Finally going home!

We are so lucky to have a healthy baby at home now.  A week in the NICU is quite a challenge when you have other kids.  I'm glad it was just a week!

Mother's Day Brunch and Diapers Shower

The boys school had a great Mother's Day Brunch program for us before school got out.  They both made super cute things for me and sang in a program.  Then we had lunch together.  The church always does a great job with the programs.  Garrett filled out a survey about me and for the most part he did pretty good!

My friend Diane hosted a diaper and wipes shower for me back in Mary.  She made this awesome diaper cake/motorcycle and even made the stuffed animal on top.  We got lots and lots of diapers and wipes!  Our friends from church were so gracious to bring us gifts, bring the food and then bring us meals for almost 2 weeks after Luke was born!

First Braves Game of the Year

On April 15th, we went to the first Braves game of the year for us.  They played the Kansas City Royals.  It was a weekday game, but a great crowd and a great game.  The boys had a great time.  We are planning to go to a couple more games sometime this year.
