the campaign for Atlanta started. In case you are wondering what that is, it is part of the Civil War and the burning of Atlanta and so on. We live close to several battlefields. This weekend was the anniversary of the Battle at Kennesaw Mountain. They were having different things going on, so we went and watched some reenactments. Garrett loves Army stuff and soldiers, but he wasn't real sure about the ones we saw in their wool uniforms (and yes, it was hot). It was interesting to see and they have a great visitor's center and museum. They had pictures of Atlanta when the city burned and its hard to imagine it looked like that compared to what it looks like today. Luckily this weekend the South and North were able to get along :)
Garrett did swim lessons this week at a friends house and did pretty well for a 3 year old. He doesn't like to go under water, but was forced to a couple of times and he survived. He can swim with a fun noodle under his belly and learned how to move his arms and do big kicks. I just wanted him to be able to swim a little in case he ever fell in the water, I hope that he will be able to do that now.Enjoy the pictures!
We went out this morning and picked blackberries out of our own backyard! They are wild ones and very yummy! There are tons left that just need to ripen. We will definitely be enjoying them this summer!
It is definitely summer down here. I think today is our 20th day of 90+. It is hot! These are some of my favorite pictures from this summer so far. I really dont' have much to write about because we have just been hanging out. Nothing really new!
On our way home from Kansas we stayed the night in St. Louis. David and I had stopped and went in the arch several years ago, but we had never stopped with Garrett. We just briefly stopped and went to look at it. You couldn't park on the river because the Mississippi was stilled flooded, so it ended up taking longer than anticipated, but Garrett enjoyed it. He said "its the Gateway Arch like on my map". He probably won't remember stopping there, but he will have pictures!
Hard to believe that Ty is already 9 months old! He goes in Friday for his 9 month check-up and we will get his stats. He is definitely a big boy, thats for sure! We just got back from a trip to Kansas and he did awesome. He didn't hardly make a peep and we drove home all the way from St. Louis. He absolutely loves to stand up and can really crawl fast. He has stood by myself once, so I'm sure walking is not far behind. He has already reached the point were he screams if you take something away from him. And yes, he still has very blue eyes. He is in 9-12 month clothes and still isn't sleeping great. There is not a food out there that he doesn't love. And yes, still no teeth. He has started getting frustrated with Garrett, when he does something that he doesn't like. Overall he is a great baby. We have started marking his states, so far he has:GeorgiaAlabamaTennesseeKentuckyIllinoisMissouri and Kansas
